The Forest of Kalevala
Welcome to the opening of exhibition on Tue 26.9. from 5 to 7 p.m.

Welcome to explore the exhibition ‘Kalevalan Metsä’ by artist Hong Liu-Sertti – an artistic journey that explores the interaction between Chinese and Finnish cultures. This exhibition builds upon her previous Kalevala-themed showcases and features new artworks. Through captivating paintings, Hong Liu-Sertti sheds light on the relationship between humans and nature, promoting cross-cultural appreciation and encouraging reflection on universal values.

Drawing inspiration from the Finnish epic poem Kalevala, the exhibition weaves fantastical scenes set against the backdrop of nature’s mystique. It invites you to contemplate the essence of human existence. Experience the fusion of traditional Chinese techniques and contemporary art, creating a rich tapestry of multicultural expression that resonates across generations.

Two decades ago, I journeyed from China to Finland, forging a profound bond with my second home. My bicultural background fuels my art, intertwining Chinese and Finnish perspectives in harmonious interplay.

My paintings unfold the human-nature relationship, fostering cross-cultural respect. They reframe universal values and shed light on human existence. Blending traditional Chinese techniques with contemporary expression, I enrich the art world with multicultural dimensions.
